Benefits of online instruction for individuals and groups

With the web conferencing solution that we use, Auf gut Deutsch's instruction in a virtual classroom offers several advantages over the traditional classroom :

- greater flexibility with respect to where the training takes place, frequency of classes and timing. Have a class in the evening, while you travel, in a hotel room, or in your office - it is your choice,

- the opportunity to learn a rare language with a native speaker who lives in his/her home country,

- lower cost of instruction since there is no travel involved for the trainer,

- more opportunity to learn with a group of students with similar proficiency level who would otherwise live too far from one another,

- a greener alternative since there is less overall travel for all parties.

Technical Requirements

- multimedia-based if you use a webcam and headset

• Pentium class 600 MHz PC or better
• Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, 2003, XP or Vista
• Full-duplex sound card (optional)
• Microphone (optional)
• 56.6 kbps modem dial-up or better Internet connection (we do recommend to use Dsl at least if you intend to use audio and a webcam)
  
• Recommended Browsers for Hosting and Joining Meetings:
  • Internet Explorer (all versions).
  • Netscape with IE engine rendering.
  • FireFox with IE Tab Add-On.
  • Opera with Neptune Plug-in.

Please make sure you have the most current service packs for Internet Explorer and the Windows™ Operating System.

• Browser Support for Website Functions and Services:
  • All modern browsers that support cascading style sheets may be used.
• Cookies and sessions must be enabled

If you wish to use the VoIP feature, you will also need:

- a headset (recommended for full-duplex VoiceChat), or a microphone and speakers (to speak and to listen)

A webcam with Windows™ driver support can be used.
